"I will cut our deficit in half by the end of my first term."
-President Obama March 24th, 2009

President Obama has been flailing around trying to find a talking point that gets traction to save him from the economy. Three years ago he said if the economy hadn't turned around he should not be reelected. Now that the time has passed and the economy is slowing even more, he's looking for ways to get people to not care. He's blamed Republicans, the internet, robots, ATM machines, Bush, and pretty much everything.

His latest attempt? He's the captain of the ship, but he doesn't control the weather. Why, the winds are just contrary! Sure, a good captain can sail almost directly against the wind, but he's helpless before nature's fury!

He then went on 60 minutes for a softball fest, and claimed he hadn't "overpromised" when running for president and in his early years in office. He then blamed Bush. Sharp Elbows whipped up this little video montage of President Obama not overpromising. Note Wallace carefully checking the card in his hand to read the question he was given word for word:

This guy sold himself as the messiah, as the savior of the world, continuously mentioning how the whole world changes and he'd be responsible for everything being wonderful in 2997-2008. It wasn't that long ago. And the internet never forgets.
