Courtesy Five Feet of Fury, a story in the Toronto Star that just made my jaw drop.
Orthodox Christians differ from Roman Catholics in their belief that the Pope is a human being, not a divine figure — which has meant Coptic Orthodox children most often are sent to Catholic school.
Look I know that the average big city reporter knows about as much about religion in general and Christianity in specific as they know about quantum physics and tanking as a Druid in World of Warcraft, but this is just astonishing in its ignorance.

I wouldn't expect a reporter to understand the difference between superlapsarianism and infralapsarianism. I can understand why one might confuse Immaculate Conception and the Virgin Birth. But this is just idiotic. No Roman Catholic on earth thinks that the Pope is divine and not human.

This isn't really something you can excuse. All it would take is a quick phone call to an Orthodox Priest and a Roman Catholic one and chat a few minutes. The rest of the article is littered with misinformation about Orthodox and Coptic Christians, but we're used to that in general as Christians. But this bit is just above and beyond the call of religious ignorance.
