Thoughts on culture and events by author and illustrator Christopher R Taylor
I just hate the idiotic moral equivalence in that cartoon. The difference is this: bikini girl can choose to put on a burka if she so chooses. Burka girl, on the other hand, is likely to be murdered by her family if she just goes out in western clothes, never mind if she goes so far as to put on a bikini. As Mark Steyn once remarked, it's not about the right to wear a burka, it's about the right to NOT wear a burka.
I agree, but there are women who wear them because they want to and think it is proper, not all of them are forced by others to do so. Just like not all the girls who dress slutty do so because others compel them to.I just thought the juxtaposition of attitudes was interesting - and the cultural analysis. Its easy to see the problems in a radical Muslim culture where women are treated like property and killed for being raped, but what does it say about our society that girls dress and act like theyd o?
@Alex, [As Mark Steyn once remarked, it's not about the right to wear a burka, it's about the right to NOT wear a burka.]Did someone made a study or survey that how much females from Islamic world wish to replace their burka/veils with western clothes? Its similar, that if a creature from another planet come and see people on Earth.
"Did someone made a study or survey that how much females from Islamic world wish to replace their burka/veils with western clothes?"Someone made a study as to whether it f***ing matters because they'll be beaten or imprisoned or f***ing murdered otherwise. The answer was no. Those women are f***ing oppressed whether you have the guts to face up to that or not.
