CUTENESS

Holy desktop wallpaper, Batman! How can nature create such cuteness?!?

Bambi and Thumper
Being a rough, tough male, I am immune to the saccharine pull of Cute Overload, but naturally others might find this adorable and as such I find it my public duty to share the site and this picture from it. Not because I think it's cute at all, nossir.

Cute Overload is a site dedicated to pictures of whatever is really cute, especially pictures of kitties and small animals and babies. Especially cute small baby animals. It is a standard blog, and in my never ending quest for more blog diversity and inclusion, you get this site.

And being a blog, it has comments, which included some background information on the animals in question:
My German is lousy, but I believe the two have been separated for some reason I'm not sure. I think the deer had to be relocated by park officials. Sad. There are pictures of their farewell. More nuzzling.

Together to the end. Anyone know German? Sorry to bring it down, but it's good to know that they are OK, just apart. Hopefully, they'll find new friends...and mates.

possum: I'm not fluent, but:
According to Tania, Finchen (the deer) was brought to the wildlife sanctuary when she was a yearling. She bonded with a young male buck that was there. Since they were born in the wild, they were released together. I couldn't find anything on the bunny (whether it satyed behind, or was released, or what.) Perhaps we can console ourselves with the fact that deer are not a creature known for their intelligence, and probably do not harbour long memories. So Finchen is likely all Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind by now...

Most of the comments were along the awwwwwwwwwwwwwww line and a few "how can mean people kill deers and bunnies!?!?!" but this really is a nice place to spend a few minutes at least when you are feeling down. Which, being tough and manly I never do of course.

Perhaps I'm just a horrible wretched person, but that picture of the bunny and deer just looks to me like mid-winter starvation wrestling.

They're probably fighting over the last patch of grass in a 50 mile radius.

If you see the rest of the pics on that site, and the story behind them, you'll find out they are great friends. However, I agree that is a likely outcome of snow as well. Animals, despite our best efforts to portray them as such, are not cuddly sweet lovable things most of the time. Nature is red in tooth and claw.
